We built our own earthquake proof structures. They all survived a small tremor but a large quake did knock a few over.
Unfortunately we were unable to blog last week due to website issues.
We have been very busy studying volcanoes. We have learnt about the layers of the Earth, how volcanoes are made and how they are structured.
In English last week we worked really hard creating volcano poetry. We were learning about similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, alliteration and personification. We have also been learning to recite our poems using exciting expression.
Today we have been learning about the different layers of the Earth.
Here are some facts that we can remember,
They are the crust, the mantle, the inner core and the outer core. (Tia)
The inner core is 5000 degrees! (Lucy)
You cannot dig down to it. (Max)
The centre of the Earth has iron in it. (Finn)
Even if it was possible it would take a very long time to dig down to the centre. (Szymon)
The magma comes out of the mantle in a volcano. (Ollie)
